The Abingdon has been in our family for 20 years, and in this time it’s established itself as one of the city’s best upmarket restaurants and wine bars.
Located in the heart of Kensington and with an elegant bar, private booths for up to six guests and an open, bustling dining area, The Abingdon provides the perfect environment for any occasion. Whether you’re planning a romantic dinner, a friendly gathering over drinks or an intimate business lunch, our cosy ambiance is the ideal setting to do it in.
"We are proud that our regulars regard us as their second home"
Our kitchen team strive to continually create innovative seasonal menus that showcase the best of British favourites. Quality produce is integral to each dish, and we’re proud to use local and independent suppliers.
As a regular haunt for many, we enjoy the task of maintaining a menu that is both new and exciting. However, in keeping with our neighbours, some things will never change… and alongside a glass of wine, you can always rely on us for a Pave Steak or our infamous Sticky Toffee Pudding! We can also cater to many different dietary requirements, so if you’re vegan or gluten-free, just let us know in advance and we’ll rustle up something delicious.
Peter - Owner
"Ever since we took over the Abingdon in 1998, our vision has always been to create a home away from home for our regulars. Many of our clientele live close by and come in every day, while others live on the other side of the world and only visit once a year. Either way, they all form part of our Abingdon family and we are proud to see so many familiar faces coming back time and again."
Amicia - General Manager
"Having grown up in the hospitality industry, The Abingdon quickly became a second home and this is reflected in the warm atmosphere we've created. A large part of our success stems from the familiar-yet-faultless service we provide, and I love the sense of community that seems to pervade our very walls."
Bonner - Head Chef
"My style of cooking is to pair seasonal British produce with classic and innovative ingredients. Being classically trained in both the UK and France gave me a unique awareness of quality, and you can see this mirrored in every dish we serve. It’s not about just throwing ingredients together in a new-world fusion style... this is about refined English familiarity with a creative, inventive twist."
